Almost every Gulf work visa needs a pre-departure medical fitness test through a GAMCA (Wafid) approved centre. You must be declared Fit before your visa is stamped, so it pays to be prepared.
What is the GAMCA / Wafid medical?
It is a standard health screening required by GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain) for incoming workers. You book an appointment through the Wafid system and attend an approved clinic.
What does it test?
- Blood tests (including for communicable diseases)
- Chest X-ray
- General physical check — blood pressure, vision, overall fitness

- A valid passport (the appointment is linked to your passport number)
- Passport-size photographs
- The appointment slip / reference from the Wafid booking
Common reasons for an "unfit" result
Communicable diseases, uncontrolled conditions, or abnormal test findings can lead to an unfit status. Some issues are treatable — a doctor’s advice before the test can help. Always be honest; results are shared between GCC centres.
Validity
A fit certificate is usually valid for a limited period (commonly a couple of months), so schedule it once your documents and visa are close to ready — not too early.
