Construction Jobs in the Gulf: Roles, Skills & Requirements

All Insights

Construction remains the single biggest employer of Indian workers in the Gulf, powered by ongoing infrastructure and giga-projects.

Roles in demand

Masons, shuttering carpenters, steel fixers, scaffolders, plumbers, painters, tile masons, plus MEP trades and supervisors. Foremen and civil engineers are hired for experienced candidates. See our construction sector.

What a trade test involves

Many skilled roles require a trade test — a practical demonstration of your skill, either in India or on arrival. Being trade-tested and confident is often what decides selection and salary.

How to present your experience

  • List the trades, years and countries you’ve worked
  • Mention specific work — formwork, structures, finishing, etc.
  • Add a short working video where possible

Documents you’ll need

  • Valid passport (ECR clearance if applicable)
  • Experience/trade certificates (attested where required)
  • Medical fitness certificate

Tip: helpers can also find work abroad and grow into skilled roles — experience and reliability matter.
